About

Photography started for me as a way of paying attention. Over time, it became a way of understanding people. The way they move through a moment, how they connect with each other, and what they hold onto when everything else is moving quickly. I still approach it that way today.

A Focus on Real Moments

Most of my work happens in real time. I’m not trying to manufacture moments or over-direct what’s unfolding in front of me. I’m looking for what’s already there—the quiet interactions, the emotion that shows up without asking, and the small details that often go unnoticed. My role is to observe, anticipate, and respond.

When direction is needed, I give it. When space is needed, I step back. That balance is what allows people to feel comfortable enough to be themselves in front of the camera.

Style and Approach

My work is rooted in a modern, romantic, elegant, and timeless aesthetic. I’m drawn to natural light, honest emotion, and clean composition. I want the images to feel as good years from now as they do in the moment they’re taken. Trends change quickly. Feeling does not.

Experience and Recognition

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph weddings and portraits throughout Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and Northern California, as well as destination locations beyond the region.

My work has been featured in publications including The Knot, Premier Bride, Inside Weddings, and Style Magazine.

These features have been meaningful, but the work itself has always been about the people in front of my camera.

Client Experience

The experience matters as much as the final images.

I aim to create a process that feels calm, supportive, and intentional from beginning to end. Many clients come into a session feeling unsure about being photographed. By the end, they’re often surprised at how natural it felt.

After the session, I continue working closely with clients to help them select and preserve their images. Choosing how photographs live in the home—whether as framed pieces or albums—is part of making the work last beyond the screen.

Kind Words

“I look at our perfect pictures everyday and each moment was perfectly caught. I will NEVER forget that day because of the amazing work they did. Thank you times a million, Nick & Ashley!”

“Nick has an amazing eye for light, posing, and overall creativity. They made us feel comfortable and helped direct us so well. He is also great with communicating throughout the entire planning process. He and Ashley are extremely dependable and just overall wonderful people.”

These features reflect moments of recognition, but the most meaningful part of this work will always be the people I get to photograph and the stories I get to tell with them.
